The choice between fear and regret

The curse of being a coach is that you see what is actually possible for people.

The things that people don’t see for themselves.

The things that people REFUSE to see for themselves.

I’ve asked myself why that is. Why people refuse to try. And the only conclusion that I have come to is that fear, now, is more difficult than regret later.

The regret will come. On some level, we all know it. We’ve felt it. The times that we didn’t play all out. That we could have done just a little better and it would have made a huge difference.

We told ourselves at the time that the effort wasn’t worth it, or that we really weren’t good enough. That we were certain that we would try and fail. Because sometimes we have, and it hurts.

So we tell ourselves that things are “really good” right now, in that high pitched voice that isn’t really convincing anyone.

If you see a ceiling, that’s you creating it. Saving yourself the disappointment of trying and failing.

What if you really committed to something bigger? What would that success mean to you? To your sense of fulfillment and meaning and purpose? To the family who sees you at your very best instead of the malaise you keep saying is “really good?”

Sometimes it just takes a person or two in your corner, an encouraging word at the right time, to change everything.

Let me know if you would like that in your life. Let me know if you would like to see what is really possible.

If you want a better job in 2023, do this first

There’s only one thing getting in the way of you getting a better paying, more fulfilling job in 2023.

You. At least, the current version of you.

The people who get better jobs have learned the magic of how to show up more powerfully. This isn’t an act. It isn’t body language hacks. Instead, it’s discovering your innate power, the power that resides in your deepest being, and unleashing that on the world.

I see so many people that think they need more knowledge to get a better job.

But knowledge, the thought that you have to say the right thing, is the connection killer.

What you need is more presence, and I can help you find it. That “it factor” will have employers competing over you. It will have you knowing you have no limits.

You know you have seen it in others. But you can have it, too.

It’s this same “it factor” that has enabled me to build an elite one-on-one coaching practice with senior leaders when I’ve never been above a VP.

I know I can help them. And when they spend just a little time with me, they know it, too.

It’s simple, but not necessarily easy.

When you do this work, when you look in this direction, you will have a much better idea of what you want to do next, and if you are like most people, you have been thinking way too small.

But you don’t have to commit to changing jobs.

The only thing you have to commit to right now, is you.

Bonus time is coming up. Are you going to spend it on toys or a trip?

Or invest it in six months of developing your capacity to be more?

You know you’re curious. Let’s talk. Let’s see what’s possible.

It’s time to stop saying “No” to yourself.

It’s time to start looking at what you really want.

Not what you think you can have. Not a promotion and a twenty percent raise.

What would make you sing? What would make you feel like you were FINALLY doing what you are here to do?

Have you ever spent any time exploring that? No? Then how would you possibly know?

No one but you knows what is really in your heart.

No one but you knows what it has cost you not to even look.

Would you like to hear about a group of people just like you? People who are FINALLY seeing that this game we call work isn’t about money or titles?

That it’s about learning to stop hiding. That it’s about speaking your truth.

That it’s about connecting with amazing people on a mission to create GOOD in the world.

You’re not crazy. This is possible. You already know this.

It’s time to take the leap.

If you want to hear about a group of people just like you who are ALSO ready to go on this journey, sign on to my LinkedIn Live Masterclass tomorrow (Thursday, November 10) at 12:30 eastern time. The topic is “How to Trust Your Inner Knowing” and we will also talk about my upcoming coaching group, “You, Unleashed.”

Why do some people take action?

Why do so many people seem paralyzed, like the proverbial frog in the hot water, or the deer in the headlights?

They know, on some level, that they need to take action. That they need to make a change.

Every fiber of their being knows it. Yet they delay.

98 percent of people don’t do anything, even as they see friends and colleagues make changes, take on new challenges, create successes they didn’t think were possible

The conclusion that I have come to is this–

They trust their thinking over their knowing.

What do I mean by this?

When’s the last time you said, “I knew I should have…”?

How did you know?

That’s your inner knowing.

It’s time to start believing it. And to see what’s possible when you do.

Your thinking will always keep you small. Your thinking is there to protect you, to keep you safe. Not to make you happy. Your thinking, disguised as “realism” or “practicality,” will always advise you to stay put, or that now is not the right time. But your knowing knows different.

The people who take action are the people who believe their knowing over their thinking.

That’s the only difference I see between success, and regret.
