According to Joseph Campbell and others, we tend to see our own lives and others’ as a hero’s journey, beginning with “the call to adventure.”
George Lucas famously based Star Wars on the hero’s journey.
In the hero’s journey, life asks us to leave everything we know behind. To take on a new adventure. To get to know ourselves at a deeper level and to bring that knowledge back to our community.
My hero’s journey started when I left the corporate world to pursue coaching. It continues as I share what I have learned and help others to find their calling, often through their own new adventure.
But I didn’t start out looking for it. I was laid off, and it was only then that I decide to “answer the call.”
